CE 10 - This week, we will be presenting our Moral Issues projects (three groups per day). Make sure that you are ready to present early. We will also do a group-member and self assessment regarding your projects. Science 91 - This week, we will be exploring DNA and its purpose. We will also look at the process of mitosis and meiosis. ELA 9 - This week, we will be reading Animal Farm and learning about communism and propaganda. Your will have a quiz on Thursday regarding the themes and topics of the first few chapters. Please see your Animal Farm package for more specific due dates for reading/ Social 9 - This week, we will be learning about the role of women in Ancient Rome. We will also complete one-sentence summaries of the key information from the text. We will be making Ancient Roman timelines to chart their empire, which are due on Friday. If we have time, we will also do a webquest.

CE10 - This week we are working on our Moral Issues presentation. You will receive your presentation date in class. You have this week to complete your work.
Science 91 - This week, we are learning about the process of fertilization, as well as how a baby develops. You do not have any out-of-class assignments due this week. ELA 9 - This week, we are writing our character sketches, which are due on Thursday. You will write them in class. On Thursday, we will begin our next novel, Animal Farm. You will receive a reading-packet in class this week. SS9 - This week, we are finishing up our Ancient China unit. We are finishing up loose ends, reviewing, then writing our exam on Wednesday. We start Ancient Rome on Thursday! We will look at major landmarks and how women were treated. Reminder to all: Friday is a staff-only day! Students have a long weekend. Ethics 10: This week we will be finishing up our Wholeness unit with finishing off the slides on Monday. We will be starting into our unit project on Wednesday. On Tuesday we will have a short quiz on Wholeness. Science 91: We are starting our new unit, Human Development and Reproduction. Monday, we will start with asexual and sexual reproduction notes and a video. We will have a quiz on this on Wednesday. Tuesday and Wednesday will kick off our scientific inquiry about the reproductive systems. Thursday will likely we starting in on human development. ELA 9: This week, we will continue with our novel study as outlined in your novel study packet. Tuesday and Wednesday we are in presentations for about an hour and a half each. We will go with the flow for splitting our time between ELA and social those days. Social 9: Monday we are completing a we quest on Ancient China. We will play Tuesday and Wednesday by ear (likely finishing off our one-sentence summary notes and finishing off the culture worksheet). Thursday, we will complete a deeper inquiry into Ancient China. We are coming to a close on our unit. Keep your ears open in class for updates on our Egypt and China unit exam. It will likely take place early next week (I'm aiming for Tuesday the 26th potentially). CE 10 - This week, we went through our Courage questions from the textbook, wrote a Courage Quiz, researched courageous acts, watched the movie, "Bully," and began the W-5 Report on Sext-Ed. All our work this week ties into Courage and decision making.
Science 91 - This week, we wrote a story about an electron, learned about how power is produced, and learned about Uranium mining. ELA 9 - This week, reviewed proper comma usage, learned about sentence variety and the types of sentences, wrote our Poetry & Short Stories Exam, attended an anti-bullying presentation, and started Theories of Relativity. Remember to refer to the novel packet (see Grade Nine Block > ELA 9 for a copy).
